Her lab focuses on amino acid, protein, and energy metabolism in dogs and cats, utilizing methodologies that generate real-time data to address nutrition and physiology-related questions. She is recognized for advancing pet nutrition and for mentoring the next generation of animal nutrition experts.

Dr. Erin Perry is Professor of Animal Science at Southern Illinois University with extensive research experience investigating working canine health and performance. A FEMA canine search specialist for over 20 years, she holds a B.S. from Southeast Missouri State University and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Missouri–Columbia.

Dr. Sara Cutler holds a B.S. from South Dakota State University and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Animal Science from Iowa State University. She has worked in the pet food industry with Kemin Nutrisurance since 2008, starting in product development and now managing the North America Technical Service group.

Dr. Sara Martini
Dr. Sara Martini holds M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Animal Sciences from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Under the advisement of Dr. Kelly Swanson, her research focused on dietary strategies to support host health and the gut microbiome of dogs and cats facing antibiotic challenges. She continues to apply her expertise in animal nutrition to advance precision and individualized nutrition for companion animals.
